About the artwork Still Life with a Melon
In a composition of great geometrical accuracy where a melon cut in half with decorative purposes emerges, two diagonals, outlined with precise correspondence, exalt the very careful exhibit of fruit kept together by the four artichokes centralizing the observation on the delightful richness of details provided by fruits which arouse the wish to taste them, so rich in life they are. (Aldo Maria Pero)
About the artist Ivan Iliev
"The primary aspects of my artistry are my deep love for nature and a strong connection to the late Renaissance and Baroque styles of painting. I encounter the subjects of my artwork in my everyday surroundings. The plants that have always intrigued me represent more than just their natural forms — they embody the ebb and flow of time, encompassing both growth and decay."
Born in 1951 in Burgas, Bulgaria, Ivan Iliev studied at the Art Academy in Sofia. Following his graduation, he served as an artistic editor-in-chief for several years. Since 1990, he has been living and working as an independent artist in Vienna, Austria, and has been featured in numerous international group and solo exhibitions.
