Das Portrait darf keine leeren Räume in sich tragen
Artwork Series by Pawel Mendrek, Austria
The portrait itself is simple and personal. Personal in relation to its subject as well as its object. Pawel makes portraits because he likes people and he loves to observe them. His portraits are fed by long conversations and a whole range of personal experiences. Each person has their own tone, their own hue, depending on the amount of words spoken in a minute, the sound of an eyelash just falling, the thickness of the jumper worn last Tuesday,- everything counts!
The portrait must not have any empty spaces in it, except for the silence of the person portrayed. There are afternoon portraits, twilight portraits. Blond hair, red grass, Pawel Mendrek, full colour.
