Jana Schumacher
Hamburg, Germany
Jana Schumacher is a german artist, with a focus on abstract drawing and site specific installations, who has exhibited her work internationally.
She communicates central themes such as order and chaos, the influence of change, cause and effect and connections between art and science. Schumacher ultimately believes in the status of abstract drawing as an intuitively readable system, capable of describing existentially important things in our world.
Starship Sailing
from € 1,680
The series "Starship Sailing" is inspired by findings from astrophysics and particle physics. It was created after a collaboration with scientists at DESY (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron) in Hamburg, 2017.
Technique: Fine, linear ink drawings trace the structure of torn paper. Under a dark centre, shapes rise from the structure of the paper. Embossing and incising give the sheet a sculptural dimension. Subtle lines of colour give the impression of rays of light.
