About Selfie 7

In my work animals are the mediators. They share pictorial and imaginary space with things and objects and sometimes written messages. My work does not lend itself to simple interpretation. Neither is it about illustration or the cheap emotions of personified domesticated and wild animal. Nor are urgent ecological questions subliminally addressed here. Instead, often the titles suggest that my work draws parallels between animal postures and human psychological processes.

Natalia Weiss (*1973 in Neunkirchen, Lower Austria) lives and works as a freelance artist in Vienna, Austria. Her artistic practice includes etching, linocut and ink drawings, often supplemented by her own texts or initiated by poetry and collected and stored in artist books. Weiss has participated in numerous exhibitions and her works are held in various collections in Austria and Germany; such as MAK, Austrian National Library, German National Library.
