About the artwork Cattleya sp.

This is the first painting I did for a series of orchid paintings from 2020. I found this Cattleya species at a local nursery and fell in love with its deep magenta flowers as well as its dynamic growth pattern. The plant still lives on my windowsill and blesses my studio with new, fragrant flowers every year.

About the artist Isabel Mischka

Born in 1996 in Austria, Mischka graduated with distinction from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in 2019 and received the James & Eve Bennett Trust Fund Award. She is a fellow member of the Society of Botanical Artists, UK.
