About the artwork Paphiopedilum fairrieanum

This is the third painting I did in my orchid series, I found the plant at an orchid convention and fell in love in an instant.
But the specimen was part of the exhibition and not for sale, so I had to do all sketches, and colour matching right there on the ground between the visitors of the convention.
Definitely one of my most challenging hunts for painting references.

About the artist Isabel Mischka

Born in 1996 in Austria, Mischka graduated with distinction from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in 2019 and received the James & Eve Bennett Trust Fund Award. She is a fellow member of the Society of Botanical Artists, UK.
